John’s 40^th Birthday

If we were still in New Jersey I would have rented out a restaurant in our old neighborhood, something like Amanda’s, where we got engaged, or Madison Grill, another favorite of ours, and I would have invited all of his family as well as our friends. I would have really enjoyed going full out for such an occasion.

As it was, I was still recovering from being in the hospital, John’s family wasn’t able to fly out, and we don’t have any restaurants in Manly or Sydney that we feel so special about yet. So we had people over and we were out on the patio. Margaret made an appearance and my sister Ann was able to extend her stay an additional day to be there for the party.

I didn’t want to make the birthday boy cook at his own party but he wanted to do it and he did a great job. See those luscious steaks hot off the grill? Makes your mouth water, doesn’t it?
